What is the difference between an Immerse App and an App running on my headset?

⮕ Immerse Apps are deployable content hosted on the Immerse Platform, against which Cohorts and multi-user sessions can be created, allowing users to be authenticated and associated data captured. They are visible to Org Admins, App Managers or Cohort Managers in the App list. When creating an Immerse App, the user is prompted to upload a zipped Android app, WebGL content, and/or a PCVR EXE.

⮕ Android headset apps (typically known as "APKs") are executable files which run locally on a user's device (e.g. Meta Quest, Pico Neo, etc.). Whilst the Immerse Platform can host APK files, it is not an app distribution tool but can integrate with the main MDM providers.

Unless disabled at an organisational level, a link to download the relevant Android APK is available by checking the App Settings in an App's Overview section.

An Immerse Cohort is created which allows the end user to reveal an Immerse PIN, which is then entered into the locally run application, to authenticate that user on the Immerse Platform.

To successfully deploy and run sessions, a headset App needs to be distributed to users' devices (via an MDM service), alongside configuring an Immerse Cohort for the corresponding Immerse App.
